How to get rid of cockroaches
The key rule of thumb for eradicating cockroaches is to deprive them of water and food. After you’ve cleaned your home to remove any potential food sources, if you think you’re only dealing with a few insects, you can try these DIY methods to get rid of them:
Vacuum them up: Use your vacuum cleaner to suck up any cockroaches you see on your countertop or floor. Then, seal the vacuum’s bag and place it outdoors.
Turn up the heat: Steam clean your furniture, toys or other objects you suspect are infested.
Freeze them out: Place infested items in a sealed bag, then put the bag in the freezer for at least 24 hours at -8°C (17.6°F)
Trap them: You can buy or make specially designed sticky traps by applying Vaseline to the inside walls of a container, placing bait with an appealing smell inside (e.g. peanut or hazelnut butter, cookie crumbs) and making a paper ramp that leads to the container. When the cockroach detects the smell, it will climb the ramp and fall into the container from which it can no longer escape.
